Deceased Name: Rev. Leo C. Ewing 87, of Pontiac, formerly of Pleasant Plains, died Monday at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
He was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Pike County, the son of John and Ida Mae Hull Ewing. He married Ruth Nottingham on June 14, 1936, in Pleasant Plains.
Rev. Ewing attended Garrett Theological Seminary, Evanston, and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University. He was a minister for over 40 years serving in 13 different parishes and retired in 1976 from the Forrest Hill United Methodist Church, Peoria. He was a member of Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference and Kiwanis Club of Pontiac.
Survivors: wife, Ruth; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Nancy) Flory of Trotwood, Ohio, and Mrs. Tremon (Carol) Ellegood of Peoria; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, the Rev. Donald Jones, Rev. Frank Deninger, Rev. Donald Black and Rev. Keith Anderson officiating. Graveside services: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Bethel Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
