Betty Maxine Mellady, 83, died at 4 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at her residence at Digby House, Lafayette.
She was born in Lafayette on June 10, 1926 to the late Ernest Sr. and Ruth Fisher Klippel. She married Thomas E. Mellady on Sept. 14, 1946 in Lafayette. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2006.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Fisher (husband: Kenny), and six sons, Kenny Mellady (wife: Becky), Pat Mellady (wife: Dee), Tom Mellady, Joe Mellady (wife: Sheri), Phill Mellady (wife: Jean), and Jeff Mellady (wife: Kim), all of Lafayette; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ernie (wife: Ginny, survives) and Charlie Klippel (wife: Helen, survives), and 2 sisters, Mildred Shaff (deceased husband: Loren) and a daughter-in-law, Karen Mellady.
