He was born Aug. 4, 1897, in Kentucky, the son of Emmet and Lucy Fowler Alverson. For many years he lived in Burney and was a barber for 60 years. A number of years ago he moved into the Skybird Manor, and most recently resided at North Lincoln Village. He was a member of the Burney Methodist Church, the Live Wire Sunday School Class and the Milford Masonic Lodge.
On Aug. 6, 1919, he married Lena Johnson near Letts,and she survives, with three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, David, James Litchfield and Ben Joe Alverson; one sister, Mabel Zeigler; and one son, Alvin E. Alverson.
The services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, Ind.
Burial will be in South Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
