Lewis Byram was well- known pioneer gospel preacher in Kentucky. He was born in Morris County, New Jersey, to Edward Byram and Phoebe Coe. He and Barton W. Stone established a church at Gamaliel, Monroe County, Kentucky. Lewis Byram ordained Samuel Boyd at the Christian Church on Little Barren River in July 1809. Lewis lived on exemplary life of service to his church and his community. He was a man of great gravity, extensive Bible knowledge, and excellent Christian character.
