KOSCIUSKO — Norman Phillip Abt, Sr., 89, of Sallis, a retired heavy machine mechanic, died March 23, 2010 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko

Memorial services were held Friday, March 26, at 11 a.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Union Cemetery.

He was of the Methodist faith. He served during World War II in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Marion E. Abt of Sallis; sons, James Abt of LaPlace, LA, Robert Abt of Anahuac, Texas, Arnold Abt of Little Rock, AR, John Abt of LaPlace, LA, and Charles Abt of Lyndonville, NY; daughters, Donna Cotton of Sallis, Betty Bailey of Bryam, and Janice Carol Abt of Pearl; sister, Arlene Hennbohl of Anderson, SC; 35 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, David James Abt and Norman P. Apt Jr.; granddaughters, Jennifer Abt and Elizabeth Bailey; parents, Phillip Louis and Marie Oswalt Abt; and sister, Ruth Martin.
