Ingober Byrd Poteet was the daughter of James Poteet and Edith (Edie) Gore of Overton Co Tenn. Edith died in 1835 and Ingober and her sister Ellen stayed together. Ellen married around 1847 or 48 to John S Douglass and in 1854 they came to Arkansas and settled close to Conner Arkansas. In 1856 Ingober married Joseph Smith Jr and they bought property at Osage, Ark. Ingober died Nov. 22, 1903 after falling down the steps to the basement. She was still living in the home at Conner with her daughter Mary Ellen Smith Fancher. She was the mother of Rachel Jane Smith married to Spencer Jarnigan Morris: Thomas J Smith: Mary Ellen Smith married to James Kenner Fancher: Nancy Susan Smith, died at age 18: Ingober B. Smith married to John Boatright: and William Booker Smith, married to Ida Wilson. William Booker died in Lone Wolf, Ok in 1927, Ingober Smith Boatright died in Berryville, Ark in 1925, Mary Ellen Smith Fancher died at Conner, Ark in 1932, Thomas Jefferson Smith died 1871 is buried in Gobbler Cemetery with his mother and dad and sister Nancy Susan (Sue) Smith. Rachel Jane Smith Morris died 1887.

Ingober had another sister Jane Poteet Harp, who married James A Harp and is buried in Mullinville, Kansas. Her brothers were Booker Overton Poteet, Thomas C Poteet, Isaac Gore Poteet, George W Poteet.
