Death Notice: CUMMINGS. – Mrs. Tobitha Cummings died at her home at Houston Tuesday night. She was well known in that community. [Seymour Daily Republican, Wed, 8 Feb 1905, pg. 2]

Obituary: Brownstown Banner, pub. 15 Feb 1905: Tabitha Cummins, whose death was mentioned last week, was born May 2, 1832, [sic] and was the oldest daughter of Andrew and Eliza Thompson, and at time of her death was 72 years, 9 months and 6 days of age. She was married to John W. Goble in 1850. To this union eleven children were born, five of whom are still living, namely: Sarah McMahan, Susan Carmichael, W. W. Asbery and Edmond Goble. Her first husband dying about 1884, she married Richard Acton about 1886, who died several years afterwards and she was married to John H. Cummins, June 1903, who with five brothers and the above children and grand-children survive to mourn her death. She was taken with a severe attack of lagrippe which continued for about a week when she suffered a stroke of paralysis which caused her death. She was a member of the M. E. Church having joined the same when quite young. She was a kind mother, a faithful wife, and industrious woman and a friend to all in time of need. Owing to the inclemency of the weather Wednesday, the funeral services were held at the house after which the remains were laid to rest in the Thompson cemetery by the side of her first husband. Funeral: Kurtz Kalediscope. Owen Township. – Owing to the inclemency of the weather there was not very many from here attended the funeral of Mrs. John Cummings at Houston last Wednesday. They formerly lived at this place and moved from here to Houston last November. During their short stay here “Aunt Tabitha” as she was familiarly called, made many warm friends here. This makes two wives “Uncle” John has lost in less than two years. He has the heartfelt sympathy of this entire community. [The Brownstown Banner, Wed, 15 Feb 1905, pg. 4]
