Franklin Pierce Hoke, a resident of Avon, for many years and well known in the county, passed away at his home early on Sunday morning. He was still up and about at a late hour on Saturday evening, and told a couple of friends that he never felt better in his life. When Mr. Hoke did not respond to the calling of Grant Weik, Jr., on Sunday morning, Pierce Miller and Rufus Hoke were called. They found him in bed, still in death. Dr. Franklin Bamberger, who was summoned pronounced death due to heart failure. Mr. Hoke was a miller by trade and followed that avocation for a number of years. Lately he held a retired life. He was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Wolf) Hoke, and was married to Rosa Risser, who died some years ago. The deceased is survived by the following children: Virgie, California; Miles, of Indiana; Harry, Bethlehem, and Rufus, of Avon. Funeral services will be held at Rohland's funeral parlors and interment will be made at Kimmerlings cemetery. [Lebanon Semi-Weekly News, Lebanon County, Pa., Monday August 6, 1923, pages 1 & 4]
