Andrew Tone was the oldest son of John Tone and Margaret Harvey of NJ. He was baptized at the Old Tennent Church, NJ. There he married Rachel Lewis. They had four children: John Andrew, born 11 Jan 1768; Hannah, born 1769; Rachel, born 1771; and Thomas, born 1 Jan 1772.

Andrew Tone was a Revolutionary soldier. He enlisted 12 Feb 1776 as a private in Peter Dickerson's Co., 3rd Battalion, New Jersey Continental Line. He was stationed at Ticonderoga the winter of 1776-77. He reenlisted 8 Jan 1777 in Maxwell's Brigade. He fought in the battles of Brandywine and Germantown. He wintered in Valley Forge 1777-1778. He was driving wagons. He deserted on 18 Mar 1778. His names appears on the Muster Roll of the Valley Forge Legacy. http://valleyforgemusterroll.org/muster.asp

He is buried in Somerset Cemetery, Somerset, NY, near his daughters, Hannah Tone Pease and Rachel Tone Patten.
