Daughter of Charles and Mary Jane (Husband) Ulrich. In 1912, she moved with her parents to a farm near Pickrell, NE. She attended school in Pickrell at school district #166. She married Lane Spearman in 1927 and they lived in Filley, NE until moving to Beatrice in 1938. She was employed at Montgomery Ward, JC Penney, and later Sears. She retired in 1968. She was an active member of the Methodist Church for a number of years, later married Alfred Clausen and joined First Christian Church where she taught Bible School and served as Deaconess. She was a member of Circle 1, "Sew and Sews", and "After 5 Club". She enjoyed traveling, flowers and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Dee Waltke and husband Carl of Fairbury; son-in-law, Gerald Ballard of Minnetonka, MN; stepdaughter, Joyce Bell and stepson Mark Clausen, both of Beatrice; sister, Lena Miller and husband Ed of GA; sister-in-law, Emma Ulrich of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Elayne Ballard and Charlotte Swarthout; first husband, Lane Spearman; second husband, Al Clausen in 1992; parents, Charles and Mary Jane (Husband) Ulrich; stepmother, Trientje (Schipper) Ulrich; brothers, Fred, Ralph, Glen, Charles, and Frank Ulrich and Everett Betten; sisters, Eunice Ulrich, Orril Kiene, Gertrude Huls, and Sena Stelling.
