Delores (Dee) Nicholson-Waltke passed away in her home on November 1, 2020. She was born to Lane and Beatrice Spearman on February 26, 1935 at Filley, Nebraska. She was raised in Beatrice Nebraska and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1953. In 1953 she married Duane (Nick) Nicholson and to this union two children were born, David and Darci. Duane passed away in 1993. In 1994 Dee married Carl Waltke who passed away in 2011.
Dee loved camping, boating, hiking, doing things with friends and family, and watching old westerns. She especially loved cats and children. Her favorite job was working with children while at the Fairbury Swimming Pool. She was 'Grandma Dee' to all the kids. She began doing Income Tax in 1968 with her step father, Al Clausen, in Beatrice. She also had her own Tax office in Fairbury and continued that profession for 43 years. Dee managed the Fairbury Public Swimming Pool for 12 years and also worked at WalMart as a cashier for 12 years.
She is survived by her son David Nicholson and wife Deb of Port Lavaca Texas, and daughter Darci Asch of Fairbury. Stepson Mitch Waltke and wife Diane of Beatrice, and step daughter Deborah Holdsworth of Utah. Step sister Joyce Bell and step brother Mark Clausen both of Beatrice. Special Grandson Chase Asch and wife McKenzie of Fairbury, special Granddaughter Demarie Reedy and husband Ty of Beatrice, special nephew Steve Swarthout and wife Jenny of Beatrice, and her cat and best friend Missy of Fairbury. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by first husband Nick and second husband Carl, parents Lane Spearman and Bea Ulrich Spearman Clausen, step father Al Clausen. Sister Elayne Ballard of Minnesota and sister Charlotte Swarthout of Beatrice. Stepson Mike Waltke of Utah. Nephews Mark Swarthout, Damon Swarthout, and Drae Swarthout, all of Beatrice. And brother-in-law Jerry Ballard and nephew Mike Ballard both of Minnesota. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home in Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
