Mary Malinda met and married James E. Ferguson of Kentucky in abt 1866 after James returned from the Civil War serving the Union Army, 13 KY Calvary. They had three children: Laura Catherine, Arch E.,& John W. They resided in Chattanooga and Knoxville where James worked as a riverboat pilot the rest of his life.
While residing with her daughter, Laura, and her family on Eleanor St., Knoxville, Mary Malinda Rowden died at the age of 63 of cancer in June, 1907. Her husband,James E. Ferguson, died in 1903 and is buried in Knoxville National Cemetery.
