Peter W. Johannes was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, December 24, 1863. The oldest son of the late Nicholas and Margaret Johannes and passed away April 19, 1942, Fond du Lac hospital. When but a young man he came with his parents to Deerfield township, Waushara County, where he settled on a farm, and on May 21st, 1895, at Saint James church, Neshkoro, Wis., he was united in marriage by Rev. Francis W. Geirn to Elizabeth Mary Rose. To this union seven children were born, six of these survive, namely: Mrs. Eva Dutcher, Wautoma; Mrs. Edna Bray, Hancock; Mrs. Marge Keliher, Oshkosh; Mrs. Rose Berger, Mrs. Marie Franko and Harold Johannes, Milwaukee. his wife and daughter Leona, preceded him in death. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; four half brothers, nick, John, and Tom Johannes of Deerfield and Will Johannes of Wautoma; three half sisters, Mrs. Sue Engle, Milwaukee, Mrs. Lena King, Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Lizzie Petrick of Beloit, and many other relatives and Friends. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph church, Wautoma, on April 21st, Rev. Weix delivered the funeral sermon. Interment was in the family lot in St. Joseph cemetery. Among those from away attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Franko, B.H.. Rose, Harold Johannes and Mrs. Sue Engle, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Petrick, Beloit; Mrs. Lena King, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Keliher, Oshkosh; Mrs. Grace Johannes and son, Aubry, Waupun; A. B. Engle, Almond; Mr. and Mrs. H. Gibbs, Plainfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ray kitchen, Redgranite.
