Evelyn Clara Hansen was born on August 12, 1922, in Oneida Township, the daughter of Emil and Stella (Chaska) Yuska. She attended country school in Oneida Township until the 8th grade. On October 8, 1940, Evelyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Hansen at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. They made their home and farmed all of their married life near Clutier until they moved to Traer in 1970. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and canning. She was best known for baking pies in a hurry and baking rolicky and kolache. Evelyn died at the age of 94 on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Leland; and two brothers, Fred and George.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Dean (Debra) Hansen of La Porte City; a daughter, Susan Hansen of Dysart; two granddaughters, Deanna Perkins of Sheffield and Donna (Daryl) Douglass of La Porte City; and five great grandchildren, Perry, Peyton, and Erika Perkins and Dobson and Daycen Douglass.
