On September 30, 1940, he was united in marriage to Bertha Mae Kalinay at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier. Fred was a farmer and also did custom baling and trucking. In 1972, Fred and Bertha moved to the Marshalltown area. He was employed by Marshalltown Instrument, retiring in 1980.
Fred was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Cedar Valley Polka Club, Polka Club of America, and Senior Citizens of Marshalltown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and gardening, especially roses. Fred's greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson.

He is survived by five sons, Larry (Marilyn) Yuska, of Montour, Iowa; Don (Carol) Yuska, of New Bern, North Carolina; Randy (Teri) Yuska, of Blue Grass, Iowa; Gary (Gail) Yuska, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Mike Yuska, of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Pat (Marty) McCoy, of Toledo, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister, Evelyn Hansen, of Reinbeck, Iowa; and a special friend, Irene Coughenour, of Colo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha; one brother, George Yuska; and one grandson, Boyd Elliott.
Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Funeral Home in Tama with a vigil service at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown by Fr. Donald Czapla. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorialswere requested to Care Initiatives Hospice.
