Eddie Arthur Matz, Sr., age 79, Bowler, died Monday, February 22, 1993 at Wausau Hospital Center.

He was born June 23, 1913 in the town of Almon, the son of the late August and Reka (Schenk) Matz.

On October 10, 1934 Eddie was united in marriage to Violet Wickman in Clintonville. She preceded him in death on September 25, 1992.

Survivors include six sons, Eddie (Jeanette) Matz, Jr., Wittenberg, Arthur (Rhoda) Matz, Eland, Dennis (Donna) Matz, Marion, Allen (Ethel) Matz, Mattoon, Kenneth (Bonnie) Matz, Bowler and Elroy (Julane) Matz, Wittenberg; five daughters, Arletta (Kenneth) Kauffman, Navarino, Reka Reynolds, Menomonee Falls, Rose Serrano, Birnamwood, June (Phil) Jasurda, Mukwonago and Evelyn (Curt) Low, Wittenberg; 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold (Alice) Matz, Wittenberg; and two sisters-in-law, Martha Matz, Wittenberg and Margaret Stadler, Birnamwood.

In addition to his wife and parents, Eddie was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Serrano, one great-granddaughter, Diane Kauffman, two sons-in-law, Jay Reynolds and Juan Serrano, six brothers, George, August, Earl, Carl, Ernie and Rudolph, and two sisters, Emelia Schenk and Lulu Koeppen.

Funeral services were held February 25, 1993 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Jimalee Jones and Rev. Richard Gildseth officiated. Interment was in the Town of Almon Cemetery.
