She was born Aug. 30, 1890, In Tuscumbia, a
daughter of James E. and Martha Jane Hawken
Clark. She married Edgar W. Vernon on June 26,
1920 in Eldon. He died Dec 14, 1980.
A homemaker, she also taught in rural schools
in Miller County for several years. She was a
lifetime resident of the Eldon community. She
belonged to the Aurora Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include; two sons, Robert H Vernon,
Jefferson City, and Clark L. Vernon, Eldon; four
grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and
one step great-grandchild. She was preceded
in death by one son, Harry Vernon.
A service will be held at 11 a. m. Monday at
the Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev Bob
Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in the
Eldon Cemetery.
