Born July 20, 1915 in Emmitsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Elizabeth (Hall) Beam. She lived most of her life in Waynesboro and entered the nursing home November 6, 2004.
Ms. Mowen graduated from the Waynesboro High School with the class of 1934. She also graduated from Chambersburg School of Practical Nurses as a LPN in 1954.
She was employed as a LPN at Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, PA, then Samuel Dixon State Hospital, presently South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, PA. She retired in 1979 after 32 years in the nursing field.
Ms. Mowen was a member of the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder for many years, national AARP, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, American Red Cross and the American Heart Association.
She is survived by one brother, George R. Beam, Battle Creek, MI and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lucien Beam.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2005 in the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, 105 East Main Street, Waynesboro with Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jessen officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
