Martha Adaline "Addie" Chenoweth was the daughter of John King Chenoweth and his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Starnes. Addie was raised by her Grandmother, Sarah Chenoweth, near Healing Springs, Ark.

Addie had 3 half brothers, Joe, Nelson and Jeff, and one half sister, Ida.

Addie married James Madison Walls on Sept. 5, 1887. They soon left Arkansas for Hale County, Texas, where they lived the rest of their married life. James died on Jan. 6, 1945 in Jackson County, Or.

Addie and James were the parents of 12 children, Laroy Williams "Roy", Bessie, Gertrude ( died at age 2), Cordelia Fay, Johnny Amps (Named after Addie's father, John Chenoweth and James's father, Ampstead Walls), Virginia Lee "Virgie", James Franklin, Zeffie Lucille, Estella Effie "Stella", twins, Marvin and Elvin, and Nelson ( named after Addie's grandfather).
