James Madison was the son of Ampstead Walls and Sarah Melinda St. John Walls. He married Martha, Sept. 5, 1887, and ultimately established a home in Hale County Texas. They had 12 children and they are as follows:

Gertrude (died at age 2) - b. 1888 and d. 1890
Laroy Williams “Roy” - b. 1888 and d. 1970,
Bessie - b. 1891 and d. 1978,
Cordelia Fay - b. 1893 an d. Unknown,
Johnny Amps - b. 1896 and d. 1934,
Virginia Lee “Virgie” - b. 1900 and d. 1997,
James Franklin - b. 1903 an d. 1992,
Zeffie Lucille - b. 1905 and d. 1987,
Estella Effie “Stella” - b. 1907 and d. 1994
Marvin - b. 1910 and d. 1985,
Elvin K - b. 1910 and d.1993
Nelson Theo - b. 1913 and d. 1997

James died while visiting his son Nelson Theo -Medford, Jackson, Oregon, United States.
