Mrs. Joseph Broeckel, 77, a lifelong resident of Calumet County, died at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August Heimermann, in the Town of Chilton early today. Mrs. Broeckel had been staying at the Heimermann home for the past week after being under treatment at Calumet Memorial Hospital during the month of October. She had been in ill health for two years.

Mrs. Broecker, nee Anna Steffen, was born in the Town of Stockbridge Aug. 17, 1880, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Steffen. She was married to Mr. Broeckel at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg, Feb. 23, 1905, and had spent all her married life on the Broeckel farm. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

Mrs. Broeckel leaves her husband; a son, Anton, on the homestead; three daughters, Mrs. August (Theresa) Heimermann, Town of Chilton, Mrs. Regina Lisowe, Town of Brothertown, and Mrs. Hubert (Marie) Buhl, Visalia, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three step-brothers, John Steffen, of Stockbridge, George Steffen, of Milwaukee, and Frank Steffen, Fond du Lac; and a sister Miss Lucille Steffen, Fond du Lac. Three sisters preceded Mrs. Broeckel in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton and at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis V. Melchiors will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
