John J. Acter, 80, of R. 2, New Holstein, died at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a short illness. He had been hospitalized 10 days.
He was born Feb. 21, 1892, at Fond du Lac, a son of the late John and Barbara Wirth Achter. On Oct. 17, 1911, he married the former Gertrude Muellenbach at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The couple farmed in the Town of New Holstein.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Celestine) Meyer, North Fond du Lac; a son, Clifford, R. 1, St. Cloud; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son and brother preceded him in death.
