Mr. Smith, a retired carpenter employed by City Lumber Company for over 40 years, died Monday morning at his residence on the Lawrence Switch Road.
A native of Decatur county he was the son of the late George Luton Smith and Mary Long Smith. He had been a Jackson resident most of his life, he served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife Tracie Jane Hill Smith, a daughter, Alice Jane Harris (Randy) of Searcy, AR., four sons, Bruce Smith (Janie) and Gene Smith (Jan) both of Jackson, Donald G. Smith (Chris) of Henderson and David Smith (Vickie) of Beech Bluff, a sister Bernice Allen of Jackson, two brothers, Earl Smith (Elizabeth) and Paul Smith both of Jackson, eleven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Casketbearers to serve are Glen Aday, Howard Deaton, Oliver Jones, John Davis, L. O. Nance and L. B. Newton.
