Abram Bainter.
DIED--At his home, LaHarpe Illinois, Sunday May 28, 1905, Abram Bainter, aged 81 years, 10 month [sic] and 15 days.
Abram Bainter oldest son of Peter and Mary Bainter was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, in 1823, and was married in 1846 to Susan Bainter. To them were born six children, two of whom are dead, and the surviving ones are: Charlie, John and Mrs. Annie Leonard, of LaHarpe, and Mrs. Ella Bridgeman, of Ottowa [sic], Illinois. The wife is also left to mourn his taking away.
They came to this vicinity in 1852 and he with his cousin John M. Bainter farmed the first year on the old Zebulon Parker place, 1 3/4 miles east of LaHarpe.
Mr. Bainter followed the vocation of farming until about 25 years ago when he with his family moved to town where he has lived ever since. He was of a retiring disposition and in later years was seldom seen on our streets.
His final sickness dated back some time and his friends have known that owing to his advanced aged his death might be expected at any time.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday, May 29, 1905, at 2:30 o'clock p. m. Burial in LaHarpe cemetery.
