John Quitman Gordon Dies After Brief Illness
Funeral rites were held Monday afternoon for John Quitman Gordon, 87, who died Friday following a brief illness at the Houston hospital. He would have reached his 88th birthday, Dec. 13th.
"Quit" Gordon, as he was generally known, was a native of Chickasaw, being the youngest of the Eli Gordon family who came to this county from South Carolina in pioneer days. He farmed practically all his life.

It was from that church that the funeral was held with the Rev. Mayo, assisted by the Rev. W C Stewart, officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
He leaves four daughters, Mrs. S C Clark of Houston; Mrs. J H Hodge, of Vardaman, Mrs. Rowena Swain and Miss Alice Bell Gordon, of Albuquerque, N M, and one son, Hudson Gordon, of Santa Fe,
