Born March 8, 1929, in State Line, he was a son of the late Nelson Russell and Lillian Celeste Byers Leckron.
He was a member of Maugansville (Md.) Bible Brethren Church.
In 1947, he graduated from Greencastle High School.
For 45 years , he was the owner and operator of Earl's Market, State Line, retiring in 1996.
A charter member and past president of State Line Ruritan Club, he was an active member of Middleburg/Mason Dixon Line Historical Society, State Line.
He enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, antiques and doing community service work.
He and his wife, Dorothy Jean Izer Leckron, were married March 28, 1948, in Hagerstown.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a daughter, Sherry J. (Mrs. Vic) Moon of Greencastle; a son, Nelson R. of State Line; two brothers, Roy F. of Waynesboro and Harold A. of Greencastle; two sisters, Myrtle of Hartle of Hagerstown, Md., and Rosalie C. Hykes of Greencastle; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, John E., died in 1976.
Burial will be Friday in the Beautiful View Cemetery, State Line.
