Many of American Fork's first graders learned to read, write and do arithmetic under her tutelage. Selma was a pianist and violinist, and also was the junior Sunday School chorister in American Fork 8th Ward for many years. Selma was chosen as the "Poultry Day" queen in American Fork; this event was later known as "Steel Days" which is held annually in the city. She and Elden loved to travel and visited many of the states plus Canada and Mexico. They also visited many places in Europe including England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Czechoslovakia. She was especially thrilled to visit her father's birth home in Norra Mellby, Sweden. Selma was a generous and loving mother and grandmother and is remembered for her kindly and cheerful disposition.
