He worked for the International Harvester Company for 21 years and he was associated with his step-father, the late Arthur J. Soash, in his blacksmith shop for several years
He died instantly when his car crashed into a freight car at the grade crossing just south of Davenport, WA.
He had a sister, Violet (Birge) Nooney and a brother, Leo "Boots" Birge living when he passed away.
