DEATH OF W. W. HOLLINGSWORTH

Passed Away Yesterday - Pneumonia the Cause of Death

W. W. Hollingsworth, aged 74, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his residence, 1019 Bishop street, of pneumonia. The funeral will take place at 3 o'clock this afternoon from smith & Co.'s undertaking parlors, on Post street. The interment will be at Fairmount.

He leaves a widow and three children. A son is the manager of the Whitten confectionery store, on Post street. He was a member of Sedgwick post, G. A. R., under the auspices of which organization the funeral will be conducted. Rev. Allen will officiate.

Mr. Hollingsworth had lived in the west many years. He came to Sprague from Oregon several years ago and from that city moved to Spokane. The afflicted family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.


31st Regiment, Indiana InfantryWilliam was a Union Soldier in Company B of the 33rd Indiana Infantry. He enrolled August 31, 1861, and was mustered in September 16, 1861, as a Private. Lieutenant William Wagoner Hollingsworth was mustered out October 4, 1864.

He was the adopted son of Jesse and Mary Hollingsworth.

He married Isabella (Chambers) Hollingsworth (1823-1897), on March 20, 1842, in Knox County, Indiana. They were the parents of ten children.


William was abandoned and adopted by the Hollingsworth family as an infant. His birthplace is unknown. My husband is a direct descendant and the family story was preserved in writing and is in our memorabilia. ~Annette
