AMERICUS,Ga., Jan 11--William J. Slappey, 62, a former resident of Americus, died Tuesday night at his home on the Americus-LaCrosse Road. Death was due to acute indigestion, and he was ill only an hour. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Ellaville Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. E. T. Moore, of Americus, and interment was in Ellaville Cemetery. Kames Reese, Alec Slappey, Marvin Slappey, Cleve Burt, Grady Wimbish and Grady Killibrew acted as pallbearers. Surviving Slappey besides his widow, are one daughter, Mrs. W. G. Masters, of Tampa, Fla.; and five sons, Arthur Slappey, Lucian Slappey, Tom Slappey, William Slappey and George Slappey, all of Americus. Two sisters, Miss Lizzie Slappey, and Miss Callie Slappey, and a brother, C. F. Slappey, of Shellman, also survive.
