RICHLAND, Wash. - Shirley M. White, 75, of Milton-Freewater died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Milton-Freewater. Concluding services and interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., in Milton-Freewater.
Mrs. White was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Saint Ignatius, Mont., one of 11 children of Burton and Ruth Lefgren Prescott. Her family moved to Sunnyside, Wash., where she was raised and attended school.
In 1952, she married Ken White in Sunnyside. After her husband was discharged from the Air Force they returned to Sunnyside for a short time and then moved to Seattle.
The Whites owned and operated several fast food restaurants for several years in the Seattle and Bothell area. They moved to Milton-Freewater and made their home on their farm on the South Fork of the Walla Walla River for many years.
Mrs. White is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ken White, at their home; daughters Debra Carter of Puyallup, Wash., Jeanie Rasmussen and Mary Gray, both of Umatilla, and Joy Hale of Milton-Freewater; son Rick White of Walla Walla; five sisters and three brothers; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
