Mr. Michael Wayne Adams, age 49 of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Adams was born September 6, 1952 in Houston and had been living in Crockett for the past 20 years. He was a carpenter. Mr. Adams was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters Stephanie Leigh (Adams) Edwards, of Dalhart, Texas and Mary Elizabeth Adams, of Denton, Texas; grandchildren Christian Tyler Edwards, and Alyssa Brynn Edwards, both of Dalhart; parents Walter Wayne and Mary Eloise (Bridges) Adams of Crockett; sister Diane Anita Banks and husband David Wayne, of Houston; brother Gregory Paul "Greg" Adams and wife Christine Noel (Berry), of Houston; nieces Jamie Lynne Banks, of College Station and Paige Shannon Adams, of Houston; nephews Travis Wayne Adams, and Chase Michael Adams, both of Houston.
Funeral services for Michael Wayne Adams were held Friday, June 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Durham officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery.
Mike married Kerry Susan Brown on July 10, 1971 in Houston, Harris Co., Texas, and divorced Dec., 1974. He later married Virginia Sue Wilson on Feb. 4, 1977 in Denton, Denton Co., Texas. They were married for 17 years and had 2 daughters, Stephanie Leigh and Mary Elizabeth. They were divorced in Dec. 15, 1994.
Mike was very proud to be a grandfather. He carried photos of Christian and Alyssa in his wallet. He talked about them to everyone. He loved his daughters and his grandbabies very much.
