GARTIN

Hazel S. Gartin, daughter of Fred and Mary Ann Watson, was born June 7, 1905 in Powersville, Mo., and passed away on Dec. 3, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola.

She married Dewey P. Gartin on Nov. 16, 1925. They made their home near Powersville, Mo., until they moved to Iowa in the early 1930's. In Chariton she was active in 4-H Club work, Neighborhood Club activities and was employed at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey, April 20, 1972, her parents, three sisters; Helen Callison, Hattie Williams and Hilda Stokes; and a brother, Harry Watson.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Justine and Glenn Abrahamson of Russell; Rosemary and Jack Callen of Grove, Okla.; and Betty and Roger Marker of Chariton; one son, Lewis D. Gartin and wife Elaine of Chariton; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bissett officiating. Serving as bearers were Jerry Shriver, Larry Shriver, Garry Shriver, Dwight Stokes, Tom Swanson and Ronald Watson. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
