Enlisted on May 2, 1864, and mustered into Company C, 166th Regiment, Ohio Infantry (100 days) (Union). Enlistment Rank: Private.

The Regiment left the State for Washington, D. C., on May 15. Attached to 2nd Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, to July 1864. 3rd Brigade, DeRussy's Division, 22nd Army Corps, to August 1864.

The Regiment was assigned to duty as garrison at Forts Richardson, Barnard, Raynalds, Ward, and Worth (Headquarters at Fort Richardson), Defenses of Washington south of the Potomac, till September 1864.

Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Battle of Fort Stevens, District of Columbia (July 11-12, 1864).

Mustered out of service on September 9, 1865, at Camp Cleveland, Ohio.

Filed for Invalid Pension on April 24, 1883, and received application No. 480,921 and certificate No. 750,812. His wife filed for a widow's pension on February 21, 1905.
