He taught school in Illinois. He married twice. He operated a grain elevator in Canada before moving to Avard, Oklahoma. He engaged in grain business in 1909 in Dacoma, Oklahoma, and in 1917 moved to Avard.
He left his widow, Jennie Hunsaker; one son, Fred Lee Hunsaker, of Canada; two daughters, Maude Stout and Daisy Hamit, of Arkansas City, Kansas.
He was a member of the Christian church, a Mason, Odd Fellow and for 12 years served as mayor of Avard.
