On 30 Jan 1932, Pat married Donnie Clarabelle Young in Red River County, Texas. Pat and Donnie had the following children: Marjorie Lee, Janice Merl, Earl Rhea, Anne Marie, Johnny Burrell, and Joyce Gayle.

Pat had lived in Deport since 1943. A farmer, he had been ill a long time before his death in a Paris hospital at age 42.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Paris. Pat was a member. The pastor, the Rev. C. G. Renfro, officiated. J. M. Grant Funeral Home handled the burial in Highland Cemetery.

The obit lists the following survivors: his parents; his wife, the former Miss Clara Young; his children: Mrs. Marjorie Jackson and Mrs. Jancie Foster, Fort Worth; Earl Ray Burns, U.S. Air Force; Anna Marie Burns, Johnny Burrell Burns and Joyce Gayle Burns, all of Deport; three grandchildren; sisters and brothers; Mrs. Corbett H. Collins, and Mrs. Louie Evans, Dallas; Tully Burns, Gonzales, La.; Gene Burns, Edgar Burns, and Delbert Burns, all of Bogata.
