M. Marie Lang, 72, of Galva, died Friday, March 19, 2010, in the emergency room at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, IL.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Galva Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Marie Lang Memorial Fund.

The former Martha Marie Alexander was born May 19, 1937 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Stanley Cavitt and Martha Ilene Willett Alexander. She was educated in Galesburg schools and graduated from Galesburg High School. She married Ernest C. Lang on January 24, 1970 in Cambridge. He died on October 12, 1984. She worked at Lily Tulip Co. and later at Dixline Corp, both in Galva. Her last employment was at Mary's Family Dining and Lounge in Galva. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Galva and was also an avid bowler. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita (James) VanMeir, Galva, son, Ernie (Peggy) Lang, Galva; four grandchildren, Anthony Lang, Edward VanMeir, Samantha Lang, and Andrew Lang, all of Galva; a step-granddaughter, Shakira VanMeir, Arkansas; a great-granddaughter, Roxanne Lang; a sister, Ruby (Darrell) Hughs, Victoria, IL; three brothers, Russell (Pat) Alexander, Decatur, IL, Percy (Donna) Alexander, Galesburg, and Ralph (Joyce) Alexander, Quincy, IL; a brother-in-law Larry Lang, Galva, three sisters-in-law, Wauneta Lang, Galva, Grace Cox, Kewanee, and Eve Dell Owens, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews, including Karen Hagerty, Galva. Her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Paul Wayne Alexander and Curtis James Alexander, preceded her in death.
