Helen Elizabeth Grant, 77, of Louisville, died Thursday at her daughter's home. She was the former Helen E. Higdon, a native of Grayson County, KY, a seamstress for Brandy's Draperies and a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and the Marian Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Grant, and her parents, Lenora and Charles Emmett Higdon. She is survived by her sons, Wayne, Carl and Gary Grant; daughters, Lillie Mitchell, Rita Long and Janice Yonce; sisters, Mildred Grant, Mary Catherine Grant, Anna Rose Messenger and Bernadette Chambers; brothers, Russell, Chester and Floyd Higdon; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at her church, 10801 Deering Rd., with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday at family-owned Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home, 7330 Southside Dr. Memorials may be made to OLC's Marian Guild or Hospice of Louisville.

Helen Elizabeth (Higdon) Grant, 77, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at her daughter's home in Louisville, Ky. She was a resident of Louisville, Ky. Her parents were Charles Emmett and Lenora Higdon. She married Bernard Grant on Jan. 7, 1946. He preceded her in death July 2, 1983. Survivors include three sons, Wayne, Carl and Gary Grant, all of Louisville, Ky.; three daughters, Lillie Mitchell of Louisville, Ky., Rita Long of Edinburgh and Janice Yonce of Plano, Texas; four sisters, Mildred Grant, Mary Catherine Grant, Anna Rose Messenger and Bernadette Chambers; three brothers, Russell, Chester and Floyd Higdon; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was employed by Brandy's Draperies in Louisville, Ky., as a seamstress. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in Louisville, Ky., and the church's Marian Guild. A service was conducted Monday at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Louisville. Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky., handled arrangements. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Louisville, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Consolation's Marian Guild or the Hospice of Louisville.
