JACKSON, Wyo. - Lynn Earl Smith, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at St. Johns Hospital in Jackson, Wyo. He was born March 20, 1917 in Georgetown, Idaho to Wells Harrison Smith and Florence Barkdull. He married Nona Lucile King in the Logan LDS Temple on Nov. 30, 1943. He served a mission for the church in the Southwestern States Mission. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy on the USS Minneapolis. Upon returning home from the war, he worked at the Conda Mine and Tipton's Garage for a time and then purchased a milk route, working it for over 20 years. When the milk industry phased the milk can out of the picture, he retired and worked as a security guard for Bekker Industries. He loved new automobiles and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, and cutting firewood. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching and visiting with little children.
Lynn is survived by six children, Wesley (Laralyn) Smith, Martha (Marty) Nate (Kevin), both of Georgetown; Sue (Robert) Anger of Draper, Utah, Todd (Marnie) Smith of Lewiston, Idaho, Bim (Peggy) Smith and Chad (Swee) Smith, both of Pocatello; 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Glen Smith, Howard Smith and Don Smith; and two sisters, Velda (Melvin) Kunz and Merle Smith. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Loy Stevens; a son, Scott Lynn; his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 12:00 noon in the Georgetown LDS Chapel, where friends may call that morning from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Georgetown City Cemetery, where military rites will be performed by the Montpelier VFW Post #3884, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
