In 1874 he began the study of law under the preceptorship of Maj. Blance of Cedartown, Georgia and was later admitted to the bar.
He moved to Brehanan, the county seat (Buchanan ?), where he practiced law for 12 years. In 1887 he moved to Tallapoosa. In 1880 he was elected to represent Haralson County in the general assembly and was re-elected in 1882.
In 1884 he was elected to represent the Thirty-eighth Senatorial District in the general assembly and in 1892, he was again elected to represent his county in that body.
Mr. McBride was a Mason. A picture of his home in Tallapoosa, Haralson County, Georgia may be seen in "The First One Hundred Years" by Frances Green.
