Tressie Bunn 80 of West Des Moines formerly of Brooklyn died Monday March 16, 1981 at the West Park Care Center in West Des Moines. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p m Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn with the Rev Fred Pierce officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Bunn, David Bunn, Mel Helm, Gary Bunn, Brian Bunn and Denny Bunn. Burial was at the IOOF cemetery in Brooklyn with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of Noble and Millie Frances Bennett Bunn she was born April 13, 1900 in Poweshiek county. She was married to John Bunn on March 23, 1918 in Victor. The couple had seven sons and four daughters. They lived in the Brooklyn area for over 50 years. Mrs Bunn moving to Des Moines in 1979. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the South Side Circle.
Survivors include six sons, Noble Bunn of Victor; Charles Bunn of Grinnell; Carroll Bunn of Des Moines; James Bunn of Illinois City, IL; Donald Bunn and John Bunn Jr both of Brooklyn. Two daughters Ruth Helm of Boone and Frances Montgomerty of Deep River; two brothers, Claude Wheeler of Phoenix, AZ and Earl Wheeler of Brooklyn; 24 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 19 great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1972; one son George; two daughters Kathryn and Dorothy; five brothers and two grandsons.
