"R John Hiley" (brother, age 76, WM, B-WV, single) is listed on the 1940 Doddridge Co., W. Va. (Central District) census in household with his brother Charles Hiley & family {enumerated 06/01/1940}.
His body was found dead in woods near West Union, Doddridge Co., W. Va., on June 11, 1940, with body in a bad state of decomposition; Estimated date of death June 01, 1940. Family stated that he had been looking for ginseng in the woods, and thought he may have been struck by lightening but they never knew for sure what happened to him.
BURIED in the Pigott Cemetery, Central Station, Doddridge Co., W. Va., on June 12, 1940.
J. R. Hiley's Will was proved in Doddridge Co., W. Va., on June 25, 1940, whereby he left his estate to his brother, C(harles) L(ee) Hiley [Doddridge Co., WV, Will Book 4, pg 163-164]
