The Herberts had nine children although Andrew, Charles, Conrad, John, Mary Elizabeth, and Theresia died as children and are buried with them at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The two Herbert children to live to adulthood were son George (born on November 18, 1861 and Nicholas (born on July 28, 1861).
In the 1880 U.S. Census Andrew and Barbara Herbert and sons are living at 218 E. Chase Street. Andrew and Barbara and son George worked as tailors while Nick was at school. The Herberts had a 41-year-old boarder named Larry Simmer who also worked as a tailor.
Andrew Herbert died on January 29, 1893 at the age of 53. He was buried at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

The funeral will take place from his late residence N. 1016 E. Chase Street, this (Thursday) morning at 9 o-clock, and thence to St. James where a High Mass of Requiem will be said for the repose of his soul. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
