James pictured standing behind his wife sitting, is my Great Uncle. Brother to my Grandfather Robert Gilruth standing on the right. James's wife Anna Hewison is sitting in front of my great uncle James standing behind her. They were married but they had no child, and he left my mother Helen and her siblings quite a bit of money when he died.

1900 fed census living in Routt County as follows: James and John Dunbar Gilruth, were farmers in the Steamboat Springs area-very beautiful country. John's wife was Jane G., born in 1860 in Scotland. no maiden names on the census.. John, James and Ann immigrated in 1878 and Jane also in 1878. John and Jane were married 1 year in 1900 and James and Ann were married 12 years. no children listed for either.

Obit:
James Gilruth was born in Scotland July 19, 1855, died at the Red cross Hospital February 5th, 1940 at the age of eighty five years, six months, and sixteen days. He retired from active work several years ago, and moved to Oak Creek from his ranch about four miles from Oak Creek on the river road. Funeral services will be held from the Brentlinger mortuary Thursday. Burial in the Oak Creek Cemetery.

His wife Ann is buried there at Oak Creek in Section 2 Block S 18g1. And James is buried next plot in an unmarked grave. (How Sad)
