Raymond Schendel, 88, of Runge, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009. He was born May 20, 1921, to the late Emil and Gesine Wessels Schendel in Karnes County. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Runge. He was retired dairy farmer and rancher.
He is survived by his daughters, Gail Jendrzey and husband Ralph of Yorktown, and Elaine Lingle and husband Gary of Corpus Christi; sons, Scott Schendel and wife Mimi of Runge, Charles Schendel and wife Florence of Runge, and the Rev. James Schendel and wife Beth of Jourdanton; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Schendel; brothers, Erwin Schendel, Arnold Schendel, Dick Schendel and Parky Schendel; sisters, Natalie Herold, Lorene Merkord, Gladys Crews, Tommie Miller and Mildred Lester.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Finch Funeral Chapel in Runge. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, July 17, 2009 at Finch Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Runge Cemetery.
