Isaac Fairbanks came to Holland in 1844 as a government agricultural agent for the Indians and establish a Methodist congregation and was instrumental in purchasing the property on 10th Street which is now the First United Methodist Church. He was also the builder of the Old Wing Mission home in Holland in 1844-45, the former home of Reverend George Smith.
