Comanche woman named Totse or Chayah or "Old Lady Bones" (1833-1931) with Arthur R. Lawrence. She is sitting in front of the Original Red Store, 131 C Avenue, Lawton, Oklahoma. Photograph taken in October 1930. Chayah died September 8, 1931. Written on reverse by Arthur Lawrence, "In this picture, the old lady is relating to me her experiences when she was a young girl. She was a willing talker if she could find a listener, but due to her deafness few cared to make much conversation with her. To talk to her I had to kneel down as shown in the picture and fairly yell into her left ear. This day she had just paid $15.00 on her account out of her $35.00 monthly check and had seated herself on her comfort out in the warm sunshine to enjoy her cottonwood leaf cigarette."
