Family stories say that Katerina was possessed of a quiet, sweet disposition. She loved to dance and was quite a good dancer. She and Frantisek were probably married in about 1858. They had six children: Anna, Mary, James Frank, Frances, Barbara, and Joseph all born between 1859 and 1872 in Solon.
After Frantisek died, Katerina went to live with her daughter Frances Kadlec and her husband, John, in Cedar Rapids. Upon her death, she was buried next to her husband in St. Mary's Churchyard in Solon. She was 81.
