Anna Skrivanova was born around 1816 probably in Doubrava, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic.

Her name is present (as Skrivanova) on her daughter, Anna's Czech christening certificate. However as an additional point of interest, in the 1925 census, her daughter lists her mother's name as "Annie Kribner," or rather, thats how the name was written down by the enumerator.

Anna married Jan Ilick in about 1843 and came to Johnson County, Iowa in 1855 with two daughters, Mary [born ca 1844] and Anna [born November 29, 1848]. They also had a son, John (born ca 1844) who lived in the Solon area, but it is not yet known how he came to America. Anna died in Solon at the age of 65, according to her headstone.

The Ilick name was spelled Jilek in Bohemia.

Clasped hands symbolism: Two clasped hands on the same level with masculine and feminine cuffs as is seen on Anna's headstone, may symbolize holy matrimony, or the eternal unity of a husband or wife.
