Paul William Chancey, 79, of Leesburg, Fla., died Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was born Feb. 24, 1931 in Romeo, Fla., and was a native of Leesburg. He was a retired electrician in the U.S. Navy and a Vietnam veteran. After the military he worked for Penrod Oil Co. and moved back to Leesburg in 1995. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed traveling. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his three step-sons, all retired military also: Troy Allen of Gunthersville, Ala.; Frank (Charlotte) Griffin of Wedowee, Ala.; Thomas E. Griffin of Peyton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Marlin D. Chancey of Leesburg, Fla.; sister-in-law, Jennette Chancey of Leesburg, Fla., and seven nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 22, 2010, Eary Chancey; brother, Harry C. "Junior" Chancey and sister, Belvia. A visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 9-10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andrew T. Reilley officiating. Interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell with military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society, 1650 W. Main Street, Suite 3, Leesburg, FL 34748. Condolences may be left at www.beyersfuneralhome.com.
